Autism: psychological or neurological?
Through RealEd, I challenge mainstream assumptions about education and development.
Rather than merely applying labels, or more commonly known as 'pigeon holing kids, I feel that we need to understand whether autism stems from psychological conditioning or maybe neurological 'wiring', and how human biology truly influences developing minds. In my career in Further and Highrt education, each year I noticed the number of school leavers,attaining to us, having been 'statemented', which I simply saw as an admission of guilt from the mainstream education system, that has had these learners for 12 years! That is simply not acceptable.
Unravelling causes and patterns
What are the known causes of autism, and what age groups are most commonly identified?
Modern schooling frequently misinterprets biological development as behavioral dysfunction.
To My mind, I think that by examining developmental milestones alongside neurobiology, we can begin to uncover the real roots of these cognitive differences, and forget all about applying 'superficial' fixes.
Understanding real daily difficulties
From intense sensory overload to rigid communication barriers within rigid classroom structures, from My own experiences, I believe that traditional educational institutions can often deepen stressfulness, which of course, is simply wrong. The whole point of education, is to support young people while they develop their brains, certainly not to confuse it!
True education requires recognizing how individual nervous systems process their environment.
Does the key lie in human biology?
To build educated, resilient adults instead of, as appears obvious to me, especially with this current 'trend' that appears to revolve around sex, which to Me, especially in primary education, is utterly disgusting! Personally I Feel that we must look closer at fundamental human biology. Exploring our physiological systems, neurochemistry, and natural cognitive responses enables genuine development.
