Looking at female narcissists
Historically, Narcissism has been more common in males than in females. However, that's historically, and todays world means that we must also explore the intricate world of female narcissism, because Narcissistic Personality Disorder is not a male/female choice. This page delves into the characteristics and potential influences behind this complex personality trait, offering a deeper understanding beyond common perceptions.

The intricate nature of female narcissism
Narcissism, in its essence, is classed as a personality disorder, however I also see it as having traits characterised by a self inflated sense of self-importance, a deep need for excessive attention and admiration, troubled relationships, and a lack of empathy for others, except the cat!
Today sees females with painted on faces, eyebrows shaved off just to be drawn back on again, fingernails & toenails painted, hair died and also styled similarly to one another so not to be outdone, plus of course their attire when they're going out to impress, compared to their attire at home. Is this not the traits of a Narcissist?
While often stereotyped as a male disorder, female narcissism is equally prevalent and I do genuinely blame soial media, & parents for it's apparent increase frankly.
In today's world we always see far too much focus on a new born daughter becoming 'Daddy's little girl' or new born boys, becoming 'mummy's little soldier'
We even have to endure "baby showers" and/or naming parties for newborns, but the reality is: who actually benefits from any of these Americanisms?
The fact is that any new born is a new life that requires nurturing from both Mother & Father, and that's called nature, as I see it.
Females are very different in their biological make up to males, which do I touch on below, and I have also written other pages on this site, so I believe that Daddy's little girl, grows up seeing that everything is done for her by daddy and simply matures into an adult female who has had, unwhittingly, the 'grandiosity seed' planted, because she has had everything done for her, she has been told how pretty she is, while many mother's resent the attention that their own daughter demands. This little girl then grows up believing that males are there to protect, and serve her.
In my daytime career, which spans over half a century, I watched the vast changes from decades ago; always dealing with the 'man of the house', to repeatedly, in recent decades, always dealing with the 'lady of the house'. And ladies like to impress with the royal 'we' with no evidence showing of her input, but of bcourse, that behaviour is another very common Narcissistic trait.
Now think about famous chefs globally, think about famous hair dressers globally, think about famous dress designers globally, think about famous shoe designers globally.
Now ask yourself why males have taken those slots 🤔
Another point to look for is simple: women only ever cry real tears after they've been caught out doing wrong, and that is a very typical Narcissistic stunt to play in order to regain control through sympathy.
Now of course this page will create the usual attacks about being misogynistic, and/or sexist etc, But those attacks are again, (and I've had many attacks for saying/writing whats not popular over the years), but again, these attacks are very typically Narcissistic.
Recapping on earlier:
Makeup, hair, eyebrows, eyelashes, fimgernails, toenails etc etc - surely that's all just done to impress others with Grandiosity?
I noticed that females, en masse, were first to start accusing men of being Narcissistic, however, shadow projection is a very real trait of all Narcissistics, so are females simply shouting at who they see as their own "mirror?'
Neuroticism also must be considerd, so please do understand that this is based on my personal experiences.
Just take it as 'food for thought', dont go crying, just think 👍

Hormonal influences
Another consideration of course, is the potential role of biological factors, particularly hormones.
Oestrogen and testosterone, often associated with sex and aggression respectively, play significant roles in brain development and behaviour.
While a direct causal link between these hormones and narcissism is still under extensive research, some early theories suggest that imbalances or heightened levels could influence personality traits associated with self-perception, dominance, and emotional regulation.
Learning more about these hormonal interactions can provide a more comprehensive view.

Characteristics and impact
Female narcissists do exhibit traits such as excessive focus on their appearance, manipulative behaviours, a strong sense of entitlement, and a tendency to exploit others for personal gain.
These characteristics can significantly impact personal and professional relationships, often leading to cycles of conflict and emotional distress for those involved, divorce certainly appears to be popular these days.
Understanding these patterns is crucial for fostering healthier interactions, and personal well-being.
One final thought: for centuries females have carried out Hypergomy: marrying wealthy men, for both ease and security, the little girls dream of marrying a Prince, where she will become the Consort to the next King, and ultimately the Queen over everyone else; that shouts 'grandiosity' to me.
This still remains a dream to little girls today (Prince Charles and Princess Diana is a recent example), then of course Camilla popped back into Charles' life, so He is just as much to blame here.
So how deep does this really go?
N , understanding more , about oestrogen and testosterone is the most important thing to take away from this page.
And I do touch on the influence of social media, is social media "helping' with, as I personally believe that the enormous expansion in social media over the last few decades, has played a very large part in the increase in female Narcissism, plus of course advertising and marketing in general, which is, in my opinion, a=÷ all deliberate forms of:
