Defining a period of shadows

The term "Dark Ages" often conjures images of intellectual decline and/or societal stagnation. Traditionally, this period is considered to span from the collapse of the Western Roman Empire in the 5th century to the Renaissance in the 15th century. But is this a truly accurate representation of history, or maybe a label that demands closer scrutiny?

Or maybe Hijacking other people's status' was "the norm" However, recent scholarships have challenged this view, highlighting significant advancements and vibrant cultures that existed during this time, however these discoveries appear to be kept quite 'low key's. I'd like to invite everyone, regardless of their prior knowledge, to explore these alternative perspectives.

Was it a 1000 year long game of 'hide and seek'?
